There is no place on Earth like the Danakil Depression, if anything it resembles another planet altogether. Amongst being the lowest spot in the World and one of the hottest it’s also located in a hostile part of Ethiopia. Home to ongoing disputed between ethnic groups, it’s not uncommon to see people carrying Ak47s. Throughout the night I slept on a wicker bed listening wild dogs and feeling the hot wind until I was greeted by this incredible sunrise over the salt lakes.
